Based on the Persian epic poem The Shahnameh, this pop-up book tells of the rise of the evil Serpent King, Zahhak, and his legendary battle with the young prince Freydun.
I collaborated with Designer Hamid Rahmanian creating a unique version of this classic Iranian poem about love, betrayal, dragon armies and enchanted castles, captured in this 9 page, 17 pop-up book.

"If it's in a word or it's in a book, you can't escape the Babadook" Is the first line of the chilling pop-up book at the center of the critcally aclamied 2014 Australian horror film.
After the success of the film I was approached by the creators to help design a working pop-up book to be sold to the public based on the book used in the film.
Working closely with the Director Jennifer Kent, Illustrator Alex Juhasz, and Producer Kristina Ceyton, we tell the rest of the story of the Babadook in the 25 page pop-up terror.

THE WilD pop-up object is a new form of storytelling that allows the reader to interact with the story in a whole new way.
In April of 2016 I created a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a limited production run of THE WilD.
THE WilD received an awards from the Society of Illustrators and the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, and is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Design Library and the library of the School of Visual Arts.
Working closely with paper engineer/illustrator Mathew Reinhart, and the people at Lucas Films, I helped in the design, engineering, and prototyping of this award winning pop-up book.

This book is an all-in-one kit for a complete origami metropolis: 75 realistic pieces to fold with step-by-step instructions; an illustrated paper play mat; and over 200 sheets of preprinted origami paper with numbers and lines for folding. The models—houses, office buildings, cars, emergency and construction vehicles, an airport, even dogs and squirrels to run in the parks—are meticulously detailed in this unique book.
